Beyond The Woods is an intimate gathering of friends, music lovers and party-goers, tucked away in a beautiful corner of the Lincolnshire countryside
We're really pleased to be able to announce that food and drink containers at this year's festival will be completely biodegradable
Once the festival is over, used packaging from food vendors and the bar will be turned into compost, meaning that thousands of glasses, plates, knives and forks will be saved from landfill.
“After last year’s festival we realised just how many plastic pint glasses and paper plates were being thrown away. The situation was quite literally not sustainable", says Joe, who founded the festival five years ago in his back garden.
“It’s good to know that our used packaging will now be having a positive environmental impact, but we’ve got a long way to go. Climate change is a problem none of us can afford to ignore, and our team of volunteers are determined that each festival should be greener than the last”.
The Enviroware compostable packaging will be supplied by Celebration Paper & Plastics Ltd of Burton-on-Trent, and could see a major change in the environmental impact of events, with millions of single-use food and drink containers thrown away every year across the country.
As you may be aware, Stourton Estates, where the festival is held, is home to a herd of red deer. Were even the smallest amount of waste to be left behind by the festival, it could be a serious problem to the parkland’s year-round residents.
“We’re thrilled to be returning to Stourton Estates this year,'' adds Joe. “It’s an absolutely stunning venue, and hopefully products like the Enviroware packaging will help preserve green spaces like this for everyone to enjoy”.
“We’re delighted to be able to support Beyond The Woods in its mission to improve its sustainability credentials,” said Celebration Director David Oates. “We have worked closely with all of the on-site food and drink vendors at the event to ensure that only our Enviroware compostable packaging is used. We’ve also ensured that adequate and clearly marked collection bins are provided so that festival goers understand how they can play their part in this important initiative.”
If you've got a compostable cup or food container, please put it in a green bin.
Anything else, please put in any other bin around site.
Of course, any cigarette ends need to go in the metal buckets provided.
Thanks very much for your help in making Beyond The Woods a cleaner, greener festival.
